Tom McMullan acquired the property and its surrounding grounds in the late 1970's to be his family home.

The character of the period style residence and the beautiful setting in mature landscaped gardens created an excellent living environment that both he and his family enjoyed as their home for many years.

Tom and his wife Ruth recognised that the idyllic location had much to offer and together they saw the potential to develop it into a nursing business where others could also enjoy living there. Tom & Ruth McMullan established Prospect Private Nursing Home Ltd in 1992.

The business continues to be operated by the McMullan family as part of the Ladyhill Holdings Group. This also incorporates Antrim Construction Company Ltd & Boville-McMullan Ltd.

Prospect Private Nursing Home - exterior

The vision for the business was to provide high quality nursing care in a 'Home from Home' environment. The motto was and still is "Care in a Christian Environment"

Prospect was initially a 42 bed nursing home, which quickly established a reputation for high quality care. This meant that its beds were regularly full and the waiting list for admission was growing. This led our management team to carefully plan and design extra living space to create the larger 52 bed home that it is today.

We as a family feel enormous pride in the nursing home and the facilities it provides to residents in their later years. We are also very proud to have the support of an excellent management team, some of whom are original staff members that have been with us since the home opened. We continue to be blessed with the addition of new and equally dedicated staff to our team as it continues to grow.

The McMullan family and our support team have been privileged to watch some of our residents celebrate their 100th year whilst living at our nursing home.

The nursing home accepts both self-funded and trust funded residents, and works closely with social workers, nurses and hospital staff prior to admission of residents and thereafter to ensure that the needs of residents are suitably addressed.

As a popular facility, we do sometimes have a waiting list for admission to the home, however, we would advise you to contact us directly for up to date information on our availability, or to arrange a visit to view our facilities. We look forward to hearing from you.
