Accommodation

Room Facilities

Prospect Private Nursing Home caters for up to 50 residents in single or shared rooms, the majority of which have en suite facilities. All rooms also have a TV and telephone point. Our residents are free, within reason, to personalise their bedrooms by bringing in small items of furniture and personal items such as ornaments and photographs. We employ a team of domestic staff who provide a high standard of daily cleaning. Bed wear and personal laundry is washed and ironed by our laundry team, however, dry cleaning and delicate washes are not available.

Leisure & Activities

Recreation & Convenience

Activities play an important role in the day to day life at Prospect. Daily events are planned and enjoyed by many of our more able residents and one to one activities are available for those who are unable or prefer not to join group activities. Seasonal events are also planned and held within the nursing home including an annual summer outing which is enjoyed by residents and family members alike, and the Christmas Carol Service is the highlight of our year when the home is resplendent with many beautiful Christmas trees. Local schools entertain on special occasions along with singers, pianists, reminiscence and musical therapy sessions, and special in house gospel services are scheduled periodically.

Residents can make small purchases at our little shop which stocks items such as toiletries, sweets, greetings cards and drinks. They can also choose a book from our library which stocks a wide range of novels topped up by the local library service. Daily and local newspapers are also available.

All residents can avail of our weekly hairdresser visit on a Thursday who washes, trims, perms and styles their hair. Many of our female residents and some of the men too, greatly enjoy her weekly visit, which brightens up their day.

We have lounge areas where residents can get together to chat, watch television or enjoy the atmosphere of a busy room. We also have quiet rooms if they want privacy. Our conservatory proves to be a great attraction on a sunny day as our residents relax and soak up the sun. The more adventurous or able-bodied also have the luxury of going outdoors to explore the gardens accompanied by members of staff. Here they can take in the beauty of the flowers and trees, when Northern Ireland experiences some days of better weather, that is!

Care Services

Health & Wellbeing

At our nursing home the health and well-being of all of our residents is of the utmost importance to us. We provide 24 hour nursing care for residents and operate a nurse call system which enables residents to call staff by pressing a buzzer. These are located in all areas of the home.

Each resident also has an individual Care Plan with details of their care needs, medications, dietary requirements and restrictions. This information is communicated effectively to ensure that all staff delivering care follow the aims and objectives of each resident.

We also liaise with many of the external multi-disciplinary teams including podiatrists, dentists, opticians, dieticians and occupational therapists in order to ensure that a continuity of care is carried out throughout disciplines. Private podiatry visits are made available bi-weekly, should residents choose to take advantage of this service.

Our kitchen team provide varied and nutritious menus to cater for residents likes and dislikes. Menus are displayed in the main dining room and specialist diets are catered for. If a resident prefers, meals and snacks can be served in their bedroom. Snacks and drinks are also available freely and there is always a selection of fresh fruit.

Visits to Residents

Visitors are always welcome in Prospect Private Nursing Home - we know our residents enjoy seeing familiar faces. We also understand that friends and relatives of our residents have busy lives too therefore we have open hours for visiting which enables them to visit as often as possible and at times that are convenient for both them and the resident. Although there are no set visiting times, it is helpful if visitors can avoid visiting at mealtimes, unless they wish to assist a resident with their meal. Entry for relatives to the home is via a biometric fingerprint system which acts as additional security for our residents and provides ease of entry. General visitors can gain entry to the home via a buzzer system.
